How To Identify Present Continuous Tense In Urdu

میں اردو فقرات کے آخر میں ‘رہا ہے’رہی ہے’رہا ہوں وغیرہ آتا ہے۔
Use
Present Continuous Tense tense is used to tell about an action which is going on in present time.It is also called present progressive tense.
اس زمانہ کا استعمال ایسے کاموں کے بارے میں بتانے کیلئے ہوتا ہے جو موجودہ وقت میں جاری ہوں۔مثال کے طور پر۔
وہ کھیل رہے ہیں
میں جا رہا ہوں۔
بارش ہو رہی ہے۔

- It
- Singular Subject
“Am” Is Used
- With “I” Only
“Are” Is Used

Verb+ing Form is used in all types of sentences.
How To Make Sentences
Simple Sentences
Subject+is/am/are+verb-ing+object
Helping verb is used in all types of sentences.
| I am going to school. |
میں بازار جا رہاہوں۔ |
| We are jumping. |
ہم اچھل رہے ہیں۔ |
| You are wasting my time. |
تم میرا وقت ضائع کر رہے ہو۔ |
| He is singing a song. |
وہ گانا گا رہا ہے۔ |
| It is raining. |
بارش ہو رہی ہے۔ |
Negative Sentences
Subject+is/am/are Not+verb-ing+object
You must have noticed that with a little change of Not after helping verb we can change a simple sentence into negative sentence.
| I am not going to school. |
میں بازار نہیں جا رہا۔ |
| We are not jumping. |
ہم نہیں اچھل رہے۔ |
| You are not wasting my time. |
تم میرا وقت نہیں ضائع کر رہے۔ |
| He is not singing a song. |
وہ گانا نہیں گا رہا۔ |
| It is not raining. |
بارش نہیں ہو رہی۔ |
Interrogative Sentences
is/am/are+Subject+verb-ing+object
Just by adding helping verb in the start of sentence interrogative sentences are made.
| Am I going to school? |
کیا میں بازار جا رہاہوں؟ |
| Are we jumping? |
کیاہم اچھل رہے ہیں؟ |
| Are you wasting my time? |
کیا تم میرا وقت ضائع کر رہے ہو؟ |
| Is he singing a song? |
کیا وہ گانا گا رہا ہے؟ |
| Is it raining? |
کیا بارش ہو رہی ہے؟ |
Exceptional Case
There are two exceptional cases in this tense
- Is+3rd form of verb
- Is+Adjective
Is+3rd form of verb
actually gives the sense of present indefinite tense.In such cases we will use is/am/are as helping verb but never use verb-ing form.
Example
It is done on daily basis.
یہ روزانہ کی بنیاد پہ کیا جاتا ہے۔
Is+Adjective
It is used to describe the quality of person place or thing in present time.
Example
He is beautiful.
وہ پیارا ہے۔

گرمی بڑھ رہی ہے
کیا تم کرکٹ کھیلنے جا رہے ہو؟
وہ محنت نہیں کر رہا۔
